Portland

We found some stores!

by Tim on March 24, 2009

We’re talking with three Co-ops, and we have begun planning an event with all of them. We’re aiming for Earth Day or the weekend after it. We’re looking for musicians who would be willing to perform at any of the stores, and a location for a party after the event. We also need people to publicize the event and help out at the stores–email us if you want to help out!

Store talks in progress…

by Tim on March 5, 2009

We have finally begun to visit stores! We have a list of about twenty stores we’d like to visit on Google Maps. If you happen to visit one, please tell them that you’d like them to participate in Carrotmob. Also, if you have an idea for a store that would be perfect, please email us! We’re focusing on the inner east side of Portland, but we’re flexible on this. We are only focusing on independently-owned convenience and grocery stores, though.

Are you a store owner? You can email us, too, with any questions or suggestions. More information about Carrotmob is available at the main Carrotmob website.

Welcome to Portland, Carrotmob!

by Tim on February 24, 2009

Carrotmob is finally coming to Portland!

We’re going to imitate San Francisco’s method by visiting convenience stores and having them bid a percentage of a particular day’s revenue to use for energy-efficiency (and maybe waste-reduction?) improvements.  This weekend we’re planning on beginning to visit stores. We’ve contacted Energy Trust of Oregon and found out that they do energy audits for free. We’re also looking to collaborate with the Master Recycler Program for waste reduction, if possible, although they haven’t responded yet. We have a Facebook group which has grown rapidly… please join!

Once we’ve decided on a location and date, I’ll post more information.
